Presidential Highlights:
· In 1932, approved the creation of the Reconstruction Finance Corporation (loaned money to banks and other businesses). This failed to improve the nations economic depression that had begun in the fall of 1929.
· Approved several bills that reformed the federal prison system (improved the quality of prison employees, made education available to prisoners, alleviated overcrowding by building new prisons).
