Presidential Highlights:
· Ordered the U.S. Treasury to deem federal governments bonds in order to reduce the national debt. Bondholders had been promised 6% interest. The federal government paid 6% to bondholders who cashed in their bonds. Those who kept their bonds earned 3.5%. This policy saved taxpayers roughly $10 million.

· Was shot dead after 6 months in office.
