Presidential Highlights:
· Vetoed the Dependent Pension Bill (would have provided federal pensions for dependents of U.S. servicemen killed on duty).

· Approved the Interstate Commerce Act (established the Interstate Commerce Commission, which regulated interstate public carriers). This was the first U.S. regulatory agency.

· Supported the repeal of the McKinley Tariff Bill. Approved the Wilson-Gorman Tariff (reduced the duties charged under the McKinley Tariff).

· Approved the repeal of the Silver Purchase Act.
